LGBTQ+ Safe Spaces Program in Genesee County

The Safe Spaces Program

The Equality Caucus of Genesee County is embarking on a campaign to identify local businesses who vow to create safe and welcoming atmospheres for people who identify as LGBTQ+.

We invite business owners and operators to take a pledge of non-discrimination and acceptance. Your signature affirms your dedication to providing an open and tolerant establishment for individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ and a vow to treat all individuals with dignity and respect.

In return, we will list your business in our Genesee County Safe Space Guide on our web site, GeneseeEquality.org; work with the Flint & Genesee County Chamber of Commerce to promote LGBTQ+ friendly businesses; and provide your business with a small window decal (see right) that identifies your business as a Safe Space for the LGBTQ+ community.  The Equality Caucus will strongly encourage individuals to support businesses that support the LGBTQ+ community, and your business may be approached for outreach opportunities with our organization and its partners to further recognize your establishment’s dedication to equality. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. We appreciate your commitment to creating safe and tolerant environments for all people in Genesee County and look forward to working with you in the future.

We want to thank our original Safe Space Partners who joined us when we kicked off this program a few years ago.
We are looking to renew existing partners and add new ones in the year to come.
